Description of Work

The mission of the Department of Public Instruction:�The State Board of Education has the constitutional authority to lead and uphold the system of public education in North Carolina.�The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for a Education Program Specialist (Working Title: Discipline and Alternative Learning Specialist) for our NC Center for Safer Schools.��The NC Center for Safer Schools is responsible for�addressing the problem of school and youth-related violence and serve as a customer-focused information center for research, training, and technical assistance related to school safety, crisis prevention and response.�This position is responsible for providing�support to the state?s alternative learning programs and schools. In this position, they will partner with educators, school personnel, and advise stakeholders on research-based strategies for improving learning outcomes for students.�Note: To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the State of North Carolina application in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application form. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

See oshr.nc.gov/experience-guide for details.�Bachelor?s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressively responsible work experience in an education related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
